Internet Image Searching...

Is really starting to scare me! I often look for cute or appropriate content images for my posts but lately I keep getting a lot of naked people showing up on my screen! I did a search for "old women party" and you wouldn't believe the crap that came up in the images! I didn't ask for women, none of which were old, who were naked and doing things that are probably illegal in the lower 48 states! I wish there was a way to filter out those pictures when I am trying to search for images. I can just imagine the shocked look on some little kids face when they are doing image searches.

Which also reminds me that I am tired of turning on the TV and seeing commercials for KY Jelly or Viagra, and other such male enhancement products, during times and programing that kids might be watching. I am glad I don't have small children that would be watching and I might have to explain such a thing to. I can just hear the conversation now...

Child: mom what is ky jelly
Me: Uh, you use it on long johns...but we don't buy long johns
Child: but it said it gives heat sensation
Me: thats for those people who don't have microwaves to heat up their long johns

Child: Mom, what is Viagra
Me: It helps build muscle for men
Child: what muscle?
Me: Oh honey...one of the muscles they think with

I remember as a kid I use to always be so embarrassed to see commercials of feminine hygiene products come on the television where there was mixed company in the room. Still to this day I hate it when my friends talk about their issues of such things. I just always felt it is something that shouldn't be talked about. It is gross, it is nasty and keep that crap to yourself! I do have to admit my daughter is a terrible offender of crossing this boundary and I yell at her regularly about such things and she just laughs. I can't imagine my horror if the commercials that come on today would have come on then! I likely would have never stepped foot in front of the TV!

  1. I completely agree with you on all of it! I find it highly offensive and embarrassing to see/hear such things on TV and Radio. I generally switch the channel which is the exact opposite of the marketing desires. I have also noticed these commercials have gotten more and more "in your face" over the years. I don't want to be exposed to such things, and neither should children. Their used to be a time restriction, but I don't think that exists anymore. (Oh, and don't get me started on the Hardee's commercials - )

  2. At least after today we won't have any more political commercials :)

  3. Awww come on, Okie - it's worth the Viagra ad on TV just to hear that disclaimer "if you get an erection lasting more than 4 hours" right......... huh!

  4. I'd have to agree with you there. I remember being appalled when the first commercial came on for something to cure diarrhea. I could not believe they said that word in a commercial - it just wasn't done before then, let alone feminine products...

  5. Shirley,

I was thinking about this yesterday when my son and I were sitting on the couch and a Trojan commerical came on. He let out this audible groan and "you know we could really do without this commerical" and I said we'll we women have been dealing with the feminine hygene commericals for years! Payback -- but I really don't like either of them. I remember sitting there watching TV with a new date when I was 16 yrs old and a Kotex commercial came on. I wanted to run from the room. ACK.

  6. Thank you for this post - I thought I was turning into a fuddy duddy, and I'm not that old. Really folks, if I need your product, I'll find it. I don't need all those embarassing and ridiculous commercials.

  7. I AGREE!!

I can't believe that men are too thrilled to see them either ... even with the vision of his lady running through a meadow in a pretty cotton dress with her hair floating stylishly in the breeze on a warm summer's eve ... or the thought of watching her frolic joyflly on the beach in a skimpy WHITE bikini because she is now relieved of her monthy bloating and headache curse. (Could he be wondering why his lady looks more like a PMS poster child that closely resembles Chucky?)

And now we get those, oh so fun and creative, change of life commercials. Although I do find them somewhat humorous, I am thinking ... YUCK! (they hit way too close to home for me)!

Seriously ... can't we keep anything private???

  8. I almost spit coffee on my computer monitor after reading the Viagra explaination!! You crack me up!

  9. You are so right! I am 67 yrs old and this was NOT talked about when I was a child or even a teenager.

  10. Oh for the good old days. When I was a girl & went to the drug store to get pads, they were already wrapped in plain brown paper. Like anybody seeing you with the plain brown package wouldn't know what it was!

  11. My son was about 5 at the time when he asked his dad "papa, what's a condom"? My husband rapidly replied "It's an apartment building."

    Maureen. Have a great day.
